Don Dusselier and Leonard Marks grew up on neighboring farms, were fraternity brothers at the same university, and in 1989 formed Dusselier and Marks Homes, which has become one of the most successful home building companies in Kansas.

Leonard grew up in the home building business. His father was a builder in the Kansas City area for over thirty years. Leonard says, “I actually had a behind-the-desk job as an industrial engineer in Kentucky. My wife worked for a builder, and I realized I was paying more attention to her job than to mine, so I came back and joined my dad in the home building business.”

Don also came to the industry through a family business. “My father had concrete construction companies. I started out working for him each summer from the time I was 14, and then later, full time. Leonard was building with his dad, who was nearing retirement and slowing down. When his dad retired, Leonard and I became partners.”
